Phonics and Early Reading
At Mount Nod our mission is to provide our children with the skills they need to become fluent and confident readers. We want our children to read for enjoyment and understand what they are reading. We emphasise the important role that reading plays in our lives and support children in understanding the steps they need to take to become fluent readers.
To achieve this goal, we follow the FFT phonics programme 'Success For All'. This is a proven, systematic synthetic phonics teaching programme (SSP) validated in July 2021 by the Department for Education. Phonics providers have to meet a list of stringent criteria to be 'validated'.
